Well, you could try taking it to a TV repair place. I would not under any circumstances try to repair this yourself!! Even a retired TV repairman friend of mine cautioned me years ago to never, never try and repair a TV on my own unless I had a huge workbench full of the proper tools. Instant zap will result if not done by someone who has the tools and knows what they are doing.

You may just end up having to toss it if it costs more to repair than what you paid for it.

Before taking it to a repair place, have you tried unplugging and replugging the power cord? My TV does weird things sometimes (one time it zoomed in without me selcting zoom) and just power cycling it solves this.

Works for computers, might work for tv's too!

Yup! I use the zoom a lot to get standard def TV full screen on my HDTV... it looks distorted but I just hate the gray bars on the sides.

Sometimes when I try and switch it back it won't do it so I just unplug it and I guess that resets something!
