Is this the correct punctustion for this sentence?
Hi, sfort71501!
I was just browsing through the Writing forum topic area and noticed your question that you had placed as a response to someone else's really old question. So, I titled and moved your question to a thread by itself so yours will get noticed as being your question.
This place doesn't work the same way that a chat room does. If someone wants to post a new question that's not a response to the original question at the top of the page, then it's best to be starting a new thread with the new question.
Thanks!
If you are trying to punctuate a sentence said by Pam, then the punctuation given is incorrect.
Correction:
"This would be a lot easier if we could use a power saw," Pam said.
If someone else is addressing Pam and using her name for emphasis, your example would still be incorrect. You would need to include the speaker's name before or after the word "said." On the other hand, you could choose to do away with directly crediting the speaker altogether.
1.) "This would be a lot easier if we could use a power saw, Pam," said Marcy.
2.) "This would be a lot easier if we could use a power saw, Pam," Marcy said.
3.) "This would be a lot easier if we could use a power saw, Pam."
Also, the correct spelling of the word "punctustion" is "punctuation."
