Hello all,

Here is the issue:

My mom has a boiler heating system and there are 2 radiators that do not seem to be functioning (both on the same floor). My grandmother lives in the upstairs unit and the heat is fine, all the rooms around the house are fine except 1 bedroom and the living/dining room.
I have bleed the radiators until I felt the hot water in the pipes and as soon as I close the bleeder the pipe cool and that is the end of it. I have topped of the boiler tank and all the pipes running from the boiler are hot (right up to where they pass through the flooring to the radiators. I do not know what else to try.

Turn your thermostat on to get the circulatory(s) pushing water. Now start bleed the closet cold radiator to the boiler line and then the rest. This can take some time. Also check the boiler and see if it has ruffly 8 to 12 pounds in it. You can also start at the top highest radiator and bleed that to try and get the lowers bubbles out and then go back to the cold ones. Even though it has heat it still can effect the one down below. Normally when we bleed a whole system we start at the lowest radiator and work your way up. Be very patience. Ive take 3 hours to bleed in a three story apt building. Just have to stick to it. When you said I have topped off the boiler, does that men you opened up the automatic feed screw to fill boiler more? Normally there is an automatic feed on there unless your system is so old its just has a shutoff valve to add water to the boiler. Again check the boiler pressure. Don't get discouraged its bleed and re bleed. Its air you are fighting. Keep the circulatory on the whole time you bleed. The only other possibilities is you have a zone valve on that line from the boiler and another thermostat for those rooms and the zone valve is stuck closed.

The system is just that old!

The other small possibilities is the bleeder valves are not working well but if you get any pssss or spurts on water out Its doing some bleeding. When a System get real old its recommended to drain the whole system and clean out the dirty radiators out. Of course when we install a boiler and it recommended to refill the system with new water and a Ph off 7 etc no one ever really does it haha . Some time if you want to upgrade and out an automatic feed valve on the water supply for the boiler and that will greatly help maintain the boiler pressure from getting void no water pockets in system and it stay very good that way. Of course there is a way the boiler can bleed its self by using a "spiral vent" and that bleeds the system automatically.
Nothing sounds really wrong with the system except it was low in water and just needs a go bleed time.
