Can Schengen visitor marry a UK Citizen
    Hi,

I am engaged to a UK national and applied for a visitor's visa for UK to see my fiancé but was refused.

I therefore was forced to apply for a Schengen Visa so that I could meet him in France (closest to UK).

    Now my QUESTION is:

CAN WE GET MARRIED IN FRANCE WHILE ON 1 MONTH HOLIDAY. My visa is for 3 months but I am allowed to stay only 30 days within the schengen territory.

Kind Regards and hope to get an answer soon!

You can get married in France BUT you won't be able to enter UK as spouse of UK citizen immediately.

Your husband has to apply for this immigrant visa for you.. which means you have to return to your home country first and wait for visa interview at the UK embassy.. no short cut.

    Hi lawanwadee,

Thanks for your promt and clear answer.

When you say we can get married BUT not enter the UK... what do you exactly mean?
Do you mean just to do the ceremony but we can not get
    1. Marriage Certificate
    2. Entry Clearance at the UK Embassy in France

If we can't do either of the above then I don't think it is called a marriage! Just a party!

    Thanks for you help

    Elsa
