I am replacing a condenser fan motor on an Amana unit, however the old GE motor has 3 wires (brown,black and purple). The replacment unit is made by AO Smith and has 4 wires (Brown, brown/white, white and black. How di I wire it UO?

Both the br and br/white go to the new capicitor you should have bought with the new motor,, the white and black go to the contacter and are hot, Its very important you get a new capiciter tag on side og motor tells you what is needed for that particular motor
