I recently got a kitten. He was litter trained after a day and has been going in his litter box for over a week without any slip ups. This morning I woke up to his pee all over me, my quilt, and on him too. There were 3 pools of pee on my quilt, each with a 6 inch diameter. This all happened in a four hour period. I don't understand why he decided not to go in his litter boxes, and how he peed that much! He's only a baby! Please someone help? :confused:

I wouldn't be too concerned about the amount of urine. Judy mentioned UTI's, which, as she rightly says, aren't that uncommon. It's also not unusual for kittens to have "litter box failures", that is, to mess up from time to time and go where they're not supposed to. See if it persists. If it's not an isolated incident, another possibility is stress or anxiety. Cats can't tell us when they're really upset or scared about something, of course, and one way they register this is by peeing on things. It's possible that with the recent upheaval in his life he's still adjusting to you and his new environment and something has him upset. I know it's terrible having to clean up cat pee, and it's not a nice way to wake up in the morning (!), but it's something you may need to be patient about and help see him through. (But this is only if it becomes a persistent problem, of course.) Your best bet is the trip to the vet you have planned. If it is an infection, a course of antibiotics will be an easy fix.
