Garage Door Won't Work In Cold Weather
My garage door opener is 12 years old and came with the house when I bought it. It is a 3/4hp Craftsman. When the weather turns cold (yesterday it was -1), the door will usually not open or close all the way. When opening, it will stop about 3/4 of the way open. When closinf, it will do the same thing, but at the 3/4 closed position, it will stop and reverse. I have had a garage door repair man look at it and he increased the downward force which helped for awhile until it got cold again. Do I need a new opener or is this just normal for cold weather?

    Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Is there grease on the rollers or in the roller track. If so that may be hanging it up. No grease on the rollers or in the track.

Mine hung yesterday going down (-12) it was catching on the exterior vinyl trim around the door. The stuff was so stiff it caused enough pressure to cause the auto reverse to kick in.
With it open I just went around and flexed the trim and it closed.

There is no grease on the wheels or the track, so I will try that. Of course, yesterday and today it is in the 40s so it is operating without any problems. Thanks for the tip Rivethead!

Garage door will not close all the way. Remote will not work or one hanging on the wall.
