I've had several perineal abscesses that were drained and packed from a single site. The scar occasionally bleeds, but has recently "flared" up and is protruding, which seems like a keloid scar from what I've just read here. This has happened before and it receded, but in it's location it is very uncomfortable to sit and walk. It is about 1/4 to 1/3 of an inch and looks like a hemoroid coming out of a scar! Is this normal? Does cryotherapy sound like the answer? And could this be a sympton of granulated tissue, as the scar tissue has never really grown properly, or even a sympton of something else?

Try the website above, it sounds as if you may have developed a fistula, although I am no expert. Read up on the site above and perhaps make an appointment to see your doctor for a follow up exam. Best of luck.

Agree with above... keloids, from what I recall, don't generally recede on their own and healed scars usually don't bleed. You could have a developing fissure, fistula or abscess. Rarely, cancer can develop in - or adjacent to - an abcess, fistula, or scar - therefore, you need to seek the opinion of your doctor (and possibly a colo-rectal surgeon) as soon as possible.
