    Lunch breaks
I work in a hospital and work 12hr shift. We waived our 2nd break so we only work 12 1/2 hrs. We get one 30 min break and 3 separate 10 minute breaks. They said we are not allowed to combine are 3 ten min. breaks. NO more then that and they are real sticklers. They say it is the law. However, I notice that our salary management who work 8 hr. shifts get 1 hr for lunch and are able to go out. We hardly have time to eat our lunch. We have to bring our lunch because 30 min does not allow enough time to go to cafeteria and buy ones lunch and then eat it. Are salary 8 hr. employees entiltled to how ever much time they want for lunch?

Call your local labor board or if you have a union bring it to their attention.

    This is awful.

Salary employees also don't make any over time if and when they work over and normally do get to take longer lunches at time.

You can not compare what salary gets to do and what hourly don't get to do, there is no comparison and nothing you can do about it, they are in a different class of employee.

So basically if you don't like your hours and your pay, get another job. The 30 min is all you are entitiled to under the law, and no the breaks can not be combined, in fact they have to be spread out during the working hours.

And yes they can require you to do only the 30 min lunch, what happens in factories all the time
