    Engagement party gift
Should I get a gift for the engagement party that I am going to for the bride and groom? We are not invited to the wedding but are invited to the engagement party because they are trying to save money. If so, how much should we spend or what should we consider getting?
    Thanks

Engagement party gift? I've never heard of that, it's always a bridal shower gift and then a wedding gift, I didn't realize it's also customary to buy an engagement party gift.

Maybe get them a nice engraved frame for them to put their engagement photo in. A pretty photo album is also nice. I don't think you should spend too much, it's only the engagement party, but, I may be wrong, it's happened before. ;)

Engagement party gifts are a great way to celebrate a couple’s commitment while honoring them with a fun engagement party.

I had an engagement party and it was just a party. We didn't expect gifts but some people brought some anyway.
Gifts are not required at an engagement party because the couple will be receiving shower gifts and wedding gifts in the future, and an engagement party is more of an opportunity to simply celebrate the new engagement. However, some people gives gifts as a token of affection, congratulations, or good luck, but the couple or the party host should not encourage or demand gifts.

Some of the gifts we receive were a vase, a nice photo albums, wine glasses, his and hers perfume and cologne set, matching robes, engrave picture frame, gift certificates( for a dinner, movies), a bottle of wine and champagne, some novelty bride and groom items (such as hats, T-shirts) and some heirloom items( such as the “something old” for the wedding ceremony).

    Hope that helps!
