    Adding Light switches
I had one large bedroom which had two light fittings. These light fittings were operated by one two gang dimmer switch. Both lights worked independently of each other.

This room has now be divided into two and as such the light switch had to be moved and separated. I have completed this work and rewired two individual sockets one in each room, however once I switch the electricity power back on, bith lights 'switch on' and will not switch off, irrespective of whether they are turned on or off at the switch.

I know this is a wiring problem but I cannot see where I have gone wrong?

Sounds like you have the feed/power reversed on the dimmer switch and bypassed the dimmer. The light is on and you bypassed the ditch it self and ran the feed on the out wire on the dimmer switch and as such bypassed the whole dimmer/switch.Theirs hot going in the dimmer and hot then going out to light check that connection.

Check your Jumper wire if that's what was used to energize the circuit at the dimmer or what side of the switch screw you put the power on for feed

That's guess at this point without knowing where the feed comes in there first or if the Hot ran pass the light and to the switch and back to light. And in the light are was the jump to hot and the light bypassed the switch.

If you could be real detailed on what the power goes to first and how you set up the circuit
