    Pregnant cat
Hi I have a 1 yr old cat who from a week old I hand reared. She is a little like a human... today at 5:30am she gave birth to her first kitten. She has not had anymore and I am sure there are more there, I did read somewhere that distressed cats can stop labour and continue the next day, how long should I let this go on for?

I wouldn't let it go for anymore than 24 hours. If left too long, she can rupture and her and the kittens can all die. If I were you I'd call a veterinarian anyway because my advice may not be correct. I wouldn't take any chance if I were you.

Hi again, well apparently stressed out young mummy cats can hold labour off for up to 48 hours.. The 1st kitten was born at 5:30am on the 17th jan. The next 4 kittens were born on the 18th Jan at 3:30 pm so more than 24 hours later we had 3 more born, The Vet told me that it is not uncommon for first time mum cats to do this. The runt of the litter unfortunately died but all other babies are doing well, thanks for you advice Tanya xoxoxoxo
