    Relinquish for Adoption
My oldest sons father is behind in support so I told him if he will relinquish his rights and take care of past due balance I would drop the case against him.

My husband really wants to adopt my son and so we need to know how to go about all of this in the state of NC.

    Any Ideas?

    Get a lawyer.

You absolutely, positively do NOT want to make a mistake on this that the biological father can come back and exploit.

Yes, if the bio father will sign over his rights, and your new husband will adopt, it should be pretty easy. Since an adoption is very serous I would get an attorney to do the paper work

Sound advice. And at least in Florida, it is simple enough that the court fees outweigh the fee our lawyer is charging is.
