I want to buy a used ford f250 4x4. I'm hauling a 3800lb travel trailer and a 750lb 4 wheeler. Plus I want to plow my driveway in the winter. Which should I buy gas or diesel?

Diesel--better gas mileage, towing capability, and durability. There are trade-offs with diesels. Just scope it out carefully.

Well I heard the ford 6.0l diesel was no better on fuel than the gas and plus I heard there was a lot of troble with the 6.0l diesel and they are a lot more to fix

You started by asking a general question--then, you single out the worst diesel engine Ford ever made as a reason not to own a diesel. Your response indicates you are not a candidate for a diesel. Diesels are not for most people.

So a 5.4l f250 would be suffice for what I want it to do?

For what you need, a diesel is by far the best option. In Europe almost every truck/pickup/lorry/SUV is diesel, that must say something ?

Yes.

You should check all manufacturer's data regarding towing capabilities.

What you are towing isn't that heavy, assuming the travel trailer is on a tandem axle.

As far as plowing, any 3/4 ton 4X4 should be more than adequate, unless your driveway is an interstate type: really long, etc.

Don, this is kind of a bad attitude for a help desk.
Not everybody knows exactly what questions to ask. Sometimes, once they get some information, more questions come up.

Thanks for the input. Looks like ill be buying the 5.4l instead of the troublesome 6.0l, as for the "After your negative response to a unfinshed question don't expect any responses." from 450donn... over?
