Moved computer to another room phone jack doesn't work
I have Quest DSL I moved my computer to another room and after hooking up computer pluggng in to phone jack int the new room I cannot access the internter. If I run it back to the other room the internet works. Does the phone line in the other room need something done to it to make the internet work?

Yes. The phone line your computer originally accessed the DSL had to be a "secondary" line and not the main line. Did you receive a "filter" that you needed to put on the other phone line in your home? If you did, then you need to take the filter off the new line and put it onto the old original line instead. Are you also moving the DSL box with the computer? I am sure you are moving it so that only leaves the filter question. If moving the filter does not work, then definitely call up the DSL provider and ask them. They may be able to guide you over the phone to fix it and make it work in the new location.

Twinkie brings up a good point... did you move a little box that hooks up to the phone line, along with the computer?

I just ask because sometimes people use a network cable that plugs directly into the wall, and goes to a router that sits usually in a basement somewhere.

Does the cable go from the phone jack directly to the computer, or does it go through a DSL modem first?

If you plug a phone into the phone jack, do you get a dialtone?
