    Hi kdmw,
Can you tell me if the cyst was seen clinically in your mouth or did the dentist see it on an x-ray? Where in your mouth is the cyst? Is it around a tooth that hasn't erupted like a wisdom tooth? Can YOU see or feel the cyst?
See the specialist as soon as you can.
    Good luck.

There is no way to tell if the cyst is cancerous until a biopsy is done. Cysts are often fluid filled and cause problems with adjacent teeth and jaw bone. To my knowledge I've not known of a patient's cyst to be cancerous.
It's still best to have it checked out.

Anything that remains in the mouth with no explanation for over 2 weeks has to be biopsied
