install ceramic tile on shower ceiling
I have a fiberglass shower stall- the builder installed tile from the top of the stall to the ceiling on the three sides. About 24 inches high. The house is only 12 years old and the walls are in good shape- no soft spots, etc. I assume he used blue board.
The ceiling is now painted and I was considering installation of 4 in square ceramic tile. My question- can I just rough sand the paint on the ceiling and install tile on top of the blue board.
The area is about 3 ft x 4ft. If I can install over top the blue board- what type of adheasive should I use. If I have to remove the blueboard- it will become a major project and I'll just repaint it and call it a day-
    Pleas give me your suggestions.

Hi grappler you are looking to get hurt here.
NEVER put overhead tile on any drywall ceilings. I personally don't like tile overhead cause the can fall and could kill you even on the right applications.
If you are set on the ceiling you have to use c cement board "durock" Take drywall down and glue and screw "durock" cement board onto ceiling. Now you can set the tile.
The ceiling is one of the hardest places for tile because of the hot showers heat and moisture can literally hang there. Do me a favor and go to a real tile store that has installers and they will tell you what mastic/thinest to use in this tuff area and what additives you made need in the thinest.
If you don't want to remove the blueboard the durock over that and seal the edges real well
Tile over paint is never recommended.
Sorry I want you to be safe
