Toyota Duet; Constant squeaking from engine?
My sister bought a 1999 duet a couple of months ago and couple of days later there was a constant squeaking noise... took it back to the dealer and they needed to change the belt... it was fine after that but a couple of days later it started up again but this time the dealer said it happens bcoz dust tends to get caught in the belt... is that right??

If the air conditioner isn't on when it starts in the morning there isn't any noise but it gets really noisy after it is but a couple of day later even with the air con off the noise was still going on!

What the hells wrong? Its driving us crazy!
    Appreciate any help!
    Thanks

You could have a worn pulley. The easiest way to pin point it is to take off the belt and check them all by hand.

Agree on the pulley. The belt tensioner to be exact. Seen many of these fail. Oil around the tension damper is first clue.
