Hello everyone my name is Jessica I'am looking for Help! My father is a Trucker who recently started his trucking company, just last year he investead a lot of money on getting his trucking company running he bought a truck invested tones of money on insurance and the driving out of state he was leasing his truck to a company we thought we could trust, boy where we wrong they totally screwed us over, not having the slightest idea on how to run a trucking company, they cheated us out of a lot of money I mean their was times where my father would leave for two weeks and drive down to California now were located in Oregon you can imagine the gas! Right since prices where up so high. Well he would come home with a check of 800 or maybe even 900 I mean it was bad so we finally decided to stop we parked the truck last nov 2007 and its now jan 2009 we have a truck parked in our drive way not making any money! I need your help!! I would love to get my father back and doing what he loves the most! Trucking!! Driving!! Any information on what I need to do what I need to find how do I find loads and what not would be so sooo helpful!!

You need to investigate load brokers who will get loads for your truck. They are on the net in abundance. I have worked at 2 different trucking companies and if he decides to go on his own versus be leased to a company, that is his only avenue of getting loads. If he is going to go just to California from Oregon there really isn't much freight to speak of that's why he didn't make that much. He needs to sign on with a coast to coast carrier and get a team driver to go with him. It WILL wear out the truck big time, but the take home money is abundant. You'll just have to pick the right carrier to sign on with. You don't have to be in the same state as the carrier either. A lot of owner operators at the one company I worked at were from different states. There is a lot of freight in the northeast. The freight coming out of California can make drivers wait up to a week to get a load back east. Been there done that. I lived on a big truck for about a year and found that the freight coming out of Texas was good versus freight out of California was not so hot. If he has a reefer, that is different as he can carry different freight. Is he just a truck owner and not trailer? If he has a trailer (53') he can make boatloads of money.
