    State taxes
I live in Washington and work in Oregon. Can I claim to refund money on the days that I did not work in the state? Days gone from work due to vacation, sick leave, weekends? People I work with have doing this for years. I've done turbotax for years and was never asked such questions.

Washington has NO state income tax, but Oregon does.

Like most states, Oregon taxes income earned within its borders, so you must file as a non-resident and pay taxes ONLY on income earned within Oregan state borders.

Now, Oregon MAY allow you to consider income paid to you while on vacation/sick leave/weekends as NOT being earned within Oregon, but they would be unique among the states in taking that stance.

A phone call or email to the Oregon state department of taxation should get you the correct, legal answer.
