Hi Im building aroom in my basement with a toilet and shower . It has a ruff in pluming for a shower and toilet. I am starting the wall around the shower, but I don't know where to start to build from the wall. What are the measurmints to start with ? Is there e web site to go to for help? Ellis

Toilets are roughed in so that you measure 12" from the stud face to the center of the toilet pipe.

Some will also measure at 12.5" to center of pipe from stud wall, but a better fit is made using the 12" from stud face.

You will need to plan on running the sink vent, most likely full size 2" to another vent upstairs and connect into a 2" vent up there at 42"-48" off finish floor (minimum) or in attic... unless you are allowed to use a MECHANICAL VENT in your area. You would need to call a local plumbing inspector and just ask if they are allowed in your area... these are illegal in most places (and require accessibility for future change out if you do use). Tell them you are thinking about adding 1/2 bath... ;)

Vents pitch back toward the drains at 1/8" to 1/4" pitch per foot and pipe gets hung every 4 feet.

Mark gave you excellent advice. You asked about shower rough in measures.
We install the shower mixing valve 48" off the shower floor. The shower head is optional but we maintain at least a 28 to 30" raiser. As a rule we bring the shower head up to 78" off the floor. Hope this helps, tom

Also note Ellis, that your shower valve will have a specific rough in number. You must be sure the DEPTH of the valve is correct in terms of its relationship to the finished wall...
