Hello. Ok I got my last normal period nov.24. And I had to take the morning after pill not long after which made me get my period again dec.5th. Its now the 10th and I still have not gotten my period. I took a test sat the third and it was negative. Should I be worried. I have to admi I have been having more appetite.. Could I just b latethats why I'm so hungry and getting light cramps once in a while.
I don't think you will be pregnant , sex only has a success rate of something I can't remember and the morning after pill would have stopped it even if it did work
The pregnancy test said no, I would wait a week or two then try another test, if its negative and you still have no periods see your gp
About 8% of women who have unprotected sex in the middle weeks of their cycle get pregnant... might not sound high, but that's one in about 12-13 women... emergency contraceptives would knock the number down to about 1-2%.
Again... 2% might sound low, but if you walk away from that feeling like its "safe", you are mistaken. Perfect use of the pill will still see 1 or two women in 100 become pregnant. It happens.
So... the perspective of "your chances are low" with about 98% success rate with ECP's... I'm not sure id agree... "low" is a relative term and too often said as if it's the same as "neglible" or practically "zero"...
Yes, its lower than not using ECP's... but my child was conceived using both birth control and careful fertility tracking. Oops. It absolutely happens.
Are you pregnant? NOBODY here can tell you that. And telling you what we "feel" or "think" is not a reliable answer. Anybody who says "i think you are" or "i dont think you are" isn't running with facts.
The facts are no physician is going to diagnose you over the internet... that HPT's that throw a negative might be correct or might not be detecting low levels of hormones, and most people can diagnose themselves into thinking they have one or more "pregnancy symptoms"...
So you had unprotected sex and used emergency contraceptives after. The fact you had sex means you could be pregnant. The use of ECP doesn't guarantee you are or are not. The missed period is something experienced in pregnancy, but it isn't exclusive to pregnancy... many women miss periods without being pregnant.
So... now its time to wait and test. Take the HPT first thing in the morning, when hormone levels are most concentrated. Remember to follow the exact instructions for use and timing (changes in the test outside the proper waiting period are not reliable). A positive is usually reliable, a negative is less sure. Might be really negative or might not have reached testing threshold sensitivity.
To KP I didn't say she wasn't pregnant I sais it would be a good idea to take another test in a week or two

Its one thing to offer assurance to someone who needs it... its another thing to offer false security. Yes, people have unprotected sex all the time and many do not get pregnant... but "thinking" she is not pregnant on an online forum is not responsible advice, and stating an emergency contraceptive would "stop it" is not stating all the facts.

More testing? Sure.
Not pregnant? I'm not willing to state that. No physician would either.
Unprotected sex having a pregnancy rate that I don't know or remember? Not exactly helpful. Unprotected sex followed by emergency contraceptive can, and does, result in pregnancy, even if the % is "low"... you are more likely to get pregnant using the pill or emergency birth control than you are likely to have breast cancer or uterine cancer, but we still screen for breast cancer and we still do pap smears to battle those "unlikely" odds... so I don't see 1 in 50 or 1 in 100 as being "low" enough to not worry...
Emergency protection guaranteed to stop pregnancy? Nope.
AMHD policy is to support negative feedback for answers that are factually incorrect or incomplete.
Ok. I couldn't wait I took a test and negative... I'm relieved... I'm just late... Good thing...
