I recently left a message at my physicians office requesting results from my recent labwork I had done. I later found out that my Actual Medical Records were mailed out to me, but I did not get them because they were sent to the wrong address.
I didn't think that they were even allowed to mail out your private medical records to a residential address.
Can they do that without me signing a release?

You asked for your records, they mailed them to you, ( is that not what you wanted? )

Was this a old address and you failed to up date your address

I have the physician write CC:pt or CC:Patient on the order. Therefore I get it direct from the lab.

For other records such as progress notes, I have to sign a formal release at another physician's office. That they are released to me or whoever besides the insurance company and what records I want.

I simply asked if the results were normal or not.
I didn't request records to be sent to my home. And yes my address had been updated but they mistakenly used an old past address that was in my chart.

I just think a simple answer of normal or not normal results when I called over the phone is reasonable. Not sending out an entire summary of my actual medical records in the mail in risk of being viewed by anyone that may mistakenly receive them.

I simply was making sure that my labs were normal. I had not signed any release to mail my records to my home address. The records that were sent in the mail included labs, x-rays/reports, referrals, eye exams, etc...
