Smoke detectors going off for no reason.

My house is 6 years old and all of a sudden my smoke detectors are going off for no reason. I have 1 in the basement 1 on the main floor and 4 on the second floor where the bedrooms are. In the last hour in a half the have gone off 4 times. They are wired into the electrical part of the house with batteries for back up. However, I have removed the batteries on all the smoke detectors and they are still going off. What could be causing this?

    Thank you.

Get a can of air and clean them.

Use the air and clean them. If that doesn't work buy a new one. Start in the basement and replace that 1 with the new 1. If they still keep going off put the old one back and move to the 1 in the kitchen. Keep doing this until they stop going off.
I did this only to have another fail in a week so I replaced them all and added a couple of Carbon Monoxide/smoke detectors.

It will definitely be an electrical fault in the smoke alarm or maybe a power surge could have caused them all the "overcharge"

Photoelectric detectors are sensitive to dust. It's common to have to clean them. Usually if one goes off, the others do too in a hardwired system.
