They are often located behind the right kick panel.
. Ensure battery is fully charged and battery terminals and connections are cleaned.
. Test all underhood and underdash fuses with a test light or multimeter:

Be very thorough.
. Check for codes.
. Test for power to the distributor, using a multimeter. If none, check the ignition switch for wear, pitting, or melting. If there's power, replace the coil and test the Ignition Control Module.
. Check for fuel. When you turn the ignition switch to ON, can you hear the fuel pump run? If not, focus on the fuel pump relay.
As far as I know, a '92 Dakota doesn't have an inertia switch. If you have access to a diagnostic computer, monitor the RPMs when you turn the key. If the RPMs are reading 0, replace your crankshaft position sensor.
