The correct answer will depend on where you live and which code prevails in your area.

I'm quite confident that you can use PVC pipe/fittings or an ABS pipe/fittings residentially, but your town could have its own rules when it comes to row homes... ;)

Best plan here will be to call your local plumbing inspector and ask him... that way there is no mistakes. You will have enough work on your hands refurbishing the 3 story building!
