Tempstar about 10 yrs old?? (was here when I moved in)

Gas/Has pvc pipes extending to outside at side of house.

Is a split system

No heat call. If I turn thermostat to on and turn up thermostat, nothing will happen.
If I turn the heat from auto to run, the blower will go and cold air comes through.
I do hear the gas click, I hear some other clicking.
I cannot see any ignition action
Draft inducer is on right away.

I have had limit switch problem before. Tons of times and no matter who I paid to help me, it did not ever get fixed properly. I had another contractor come out, and we worked on it all day. Put in a honeywell limit switch and new Ingition Control with LED indicators will do the normal yellow for two seconds, the green then (with no heat) will eventually blink Red. Slow single blinks.

There, have I forgotten something? This happen very early this morning. I live in Minnesooooota and it got very cold last night.

Oh, yes, I check for clogs in the pipes as well.

I need real troubleshooters. I am a contractor by trade, but a General.

Is this what your blower unit looks like with the controls?

Is so this is a Inner City unit unless says Tempstar.

The model number you posted is incorrec. You might want to check the 4th letter/number since I believe that is the problem with my research on my digital manuals.

I will check the number again, but it does say it's a tempstar and I got that number from inside of the furnace housing.

The blower is below and only has the blower, no controls (but of course the wires from the controls)

I took off the limit switch, it was quite long about 10 inches. Bigger then what I had in there before. At least one lasted for longer then a year. It's a honeywell. The camstat's are no longer available.

Have you tried to temp jumper the limit switch?

Can you post the number (s) on the circuit board/control module since I cannot find your model number listed. I need this info to try and figure out what the blink code is saying unless you have a paper on the back of the blower door that has it listed.

If you do not see a glow down at the burner then the ignitor or the circuit board could be bad but temp jump the limit out and see what happens.

I also believe from what you posted in your first post that you could have a install problem since the limit control has caused many problems before. It could be cycling on the limit from time to time causing it to wear out. The limit control is never supposed to work unless your furnace has a heat removal problem.

Wow. Good. I will try to that. Can you assist in reminding how to do that. I remember having to do this when this problem first occurred, but?

I am looking for my jumper now, but to answer your question.

The ignition control is a White Rodgers model
50E47 I installed this in late fall of 2006 with another contractor. The LED Red "blink once"
troubleshooter lists this:

Reset control to clear lockout and confirm fault
1 flash = Number of Retries exceeded, control locked out.

I also went down the list. 1st. Yellow for two seconds, then green, then red slow blink (indicating actually on blink instead of fast two)
And it tells me to check the volts to ignitor terminals. So that is the plan and I am now going to find that jumper or run quick to get one.

After doing some checking, I found that the Model number is kind of a generic name, Used also in ICP. I also found that there are part numbers for limit switches that coinside with that model number I gave you, but of course it can't be found anywhere else. I wish my camera worked.

The blower fan is located below on bottom of unit. The rest: Inducer, ignition and combustion chanber, pressure switch, limit switch, control panel, etc. on the top half.

Horizontal piping. I checked for cracks in the PVC piping. NONE.

OH in addition, after this happening so often and getting quite annoyed. =0 I had purchased a back up limit switch. Not a honeywell, but the older style from Dey Appliance and I have located it.

Although, I found it in the box, I am a little stumped. No reading material specs to indicate how to hook up line and load and nothing on the limit switch either. Each brand is different, so I wanted to be sure.

I am still trying to figure if I have to replace the limit switch. It's currently a honeywell, but I guessing I do.

No, the pic you showed is not the back up I have. That one you show, I had replaced with the honeywell one two years ago.

Here is a closer pic of what I have, but the part number is wrong. It has to connections and neither of them are marked. It's important, I would think - No?

Anyway - it's a part via ICP.

I have a "fan control" already on this furnace in a different location. (contacts for gas valve, switch, etc) I only need limit switch.

Okay, I have the new limit switch installed, but I still can't get the ignition surface to light up. I know my ignition control locks out, so I am checking that.

Can I get some help with jump testing instructions?

This is why there is a problem with helping further. Almost every number you have posted do not work.

I did just started her up.

The inducer went on. (the control ignition went to LED yellow again, then to green solid, and the clicking was happening, but no hot surface ignition after I waited. I turned off the switch.
Something else is going on. I need to troubleshoot this.

There is no rust anywhere.

Yep, that was good. It has already been installed previously, and I understand what it is telling me. I still can't get the hot surface ignition to start up after it tries to get it too.

Not sure what to check next.
