    Fathers visitation rights when there is not proper living conditions
    I just had a little girl that I have supplied everything for and the father is not on the birth certificate although I alollow him to come and see her. I receive state insurance for my daughter and I received a phone call saying I had to put him on the birth certificate or I would lose my insurance. If they put him on the birth certificate will he have all rights of her? I don't mind him having a part of her life I don't feel comfortable with her going to his house and staying due to he is living in a house with numerous amounts of people including small 5 children and they are rough boys and he is currently on probation and his brother just got out of jail and is also staying in the same house.and he has no baby items (car seat, baby bed, clothes, etc.. ) and he does not work I'm afraid something will happen to her if they give him visitation rights is there something I can do to prevent this and just continue to let him come to my house and see her? I'm in Ohio and it seems they are slightly more strict. Any advice?

    He would have to go to court and get visitation. You could bring up your concerns there. You didn't mention the age of your girl but I assume she is young. Chances are that the court would not allow overnights at a young age in a case where the father's home was inappropriate.

    Just because he is on the certificate doesn't automatically give him rights. They want his name on the certificate and have him declared the legal father so they can go after him for support. This is almost always the case when there is state assistance given.

    He has no rights until he goes to Court, including visitation, and asks for them.

    If he does you go to Court with your evidence and request supervised visitation (in the presence of a third party) or no visitation at all.
