Do you think it's necessary to play the games to understand Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children the movie?

Not at all. Final Fantasy games are my favorite and I've seen the movie. Honestly the movie doesn't have anything to do with the game, other than some of the words they use, like mana which is magic. The movie in itself is confusing even for me who follows Final Fantasy closely, I bought a game almost 2 years in advance just so I knew I would get, I also bought the PS3 just to play that game, after I beat the game I sold the PS3.

Thanks! I got hooked after watching an extremely intense commercial for it but wasn't sure. :)
