    Judgments and your credit score
So if you get taken to court and lose but then pay in full upon first request, does it still get added to your credit report?

I guess my question is what causes a judgment to be added to your credit rating?

It hardly seems fair that just losing a court case should affect your credit as that would make defending yourself pretty pointless.

Generally a judgement will not have a huge affect. Your credit would be pretty well in the tank from defaulting in the first place.

I was talking from a normal disagreement. My former landlord believes I should pay for new carpet but I feel that it was fairly normal wear and tear. He keeps threatening to take me to court about it.

If the suit is not over credit then it shouldn't appear on your report.
