You can go pretty far, however most CNAs that I go to school with got their CNA then went back to school for RN.

Many people go for their CNA then return to school for what is called the RN Fast-Track.

To be honest it takes just as long to do that as it does for RN.

CNAs basically do the "dirty work" of the RN. Whatever the RN does not have to do the CNA does. You have much more responsibility as an RN.

It is a great entry level position. Many will go on into LPN and to RN if you would like. Many of course are happy with the CNA and remain as one.

Actually many hosptials hire CNAs and they make great money. I have friends who work at hospitals in Labor & Delivery as well as in the Cath Labs. It is a great place to start.
