Hello again!
Our heat has not been working very well in our van. We have been told it is probably the blend door because we have heat coming through the back vents but very little warm air coming through the front vents. Also, sometimes I can get it to work by turning the fan on high and switching quickly from cold to hot. Then I hear a POP and it kicks over to warm, as if there is something sticking.

How do I get to the blend door to check it and fix it?

Also, the fan does not work on the number 5 setting. I have been told it is a fuse, but I can't find the right fuse for it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Basically it will probably involve tearing most of the dash apart. All of the heat/Ac controls are behind the dash. First, look around and under the dash, find the heat box and look for loose or worn rubber hoses running all over the place. It could simply be a hose that is leaking. As for the fan switch, if the fan works on one speed I doubt that it is a fuse. Most likely the fan switch has a bad position. New one from the dealer is the correct fix for that.

That's what I thought originally, too. However, in the owner's manual there is a fuse specifically for the number 5 (highest) setting and in the troubleshooting it says that if the fan works but not on high, the fuse is bad.

The highest speed setting has a separate power source through a separate relay, too. But the power source is protected by a circuit breaker, not a fuse. If the high side doesn't work, try replacing the blower motor relay.

If the problem still exsists after you test the relay, inspect the harness and connections from the power source to the blower motor and to ground.

I have a jeep that did just the opposite not too long ago. 1 and 2 didn't work. I replaced the blower motor resistor ($20 part and 15 min worth of labor) Blows air on all levels, but still weak heat like yours...

I have a express van chevy 1998 on a/c vent front only one vent is blowing cool air th other three are blowing ambient air I checked the vacum doors all are working propretly
