Child support for a child in detention center
Hi! My 15 yr old son will be placed in a court facility (detention center) for some legal troubles he got himself into (auo theft); my question is, do I need to stop the court ordered child support while he is not in my custoday, or does it continue? I live in Pennsylvania and have been his custodial parent all of his life. Thanks!

That is up to the Judge I do believe.
You may want to put the money in a trust account so it is there to return if it is ruled you have to return it.

You probably could ask the child support court too.
Hopefully somebody here can give you an exact reply.

What state is this in because the laws of your state may be different. In essence your giving up your child to the state for the period that they are incarcerated. But to be sure you should get an emergency order ( decision ) from family court as to what to do with the child support. Niether of you have custody for that time.
