Hi,

My father was diagnosed with colon cancer and underwent surgery twice, Recently 2 days back he under gone ct obdomen with IV contrast and in the report they had written as

No definitive large bowel mass is seen

Liver lesion seen – suggestive of metastasis.

The mesentry and omentum is straded.


Can you kindly tell me what does these sentences mean

There was a lesion (abnormal tissue) that suggests that the colon cancer had spread to the liver.

This is caused by inflammation of the mesentery. This is the portion of the bowel that anchors the small intestine to the back of the abdominal wall.

In essence, it basically means that the cancer he had is no longer in the colon, but, unfortunately has most likely spread to the liver. HOWEVER, most likely a liver biopsy will be needed to confirm this.
