    Two states-tax procedure
    Hi,
    I have two different questions:

    1. I earned and lived the whole year of 2008 in Texas. My wife lived in Texas from jan -sept. 30 '08 on h4(no income/job) and earned and lived in Michigan since oct. 1'08 till year end... we plan to file joint for federal purposes... regarding state tax filing.for which state(s) do we file and what category(separate or joint)?

    2. Last year, my wife did not have SSN till late sept. and we did not get stimulus but were told that we would get it in 2009 if my wife had her SSN in '08... do we get the stimulus this year which we missed out on in 2008?. whats the procedure to do that?

    1. For Michigan also you file joint return. On Michigan return you are non-resident and do not have any Michigan income. Your wife is part year resident and report income while she was in Michigan.

    2. Yes, you may get recovery rebate. Just file your tax return.
