I'm not sure what you mean by "clean" Are you talking about perging it ? To replace it id to get into the wall and cut lines and solder a new divertor The piece I see In the picture. From the looks of it I would go new

If you would re-word your question it would be easier for us to help you. Do you mean how do you replace the faucet body or the parts that are not there.

By clean what did you mean?

I'm sorry, I am having very low flow to the shower head, I think that this may be clogged with corrosion.

I thought about pouring CLR down the shower head pipe and letting it soak and seeing if that makes a difference.

If it needs to be replaced, what am I looking at cost wise or work wise(difficulty?)?

It could be the divertor or if there is iron pipe to shower head But I see copper but that doesn't mean iron pipe is not above. How old is your house?
Did you take off the shower head off and see how good the water comes out. Also did you check and see if there is a water restriction in the shower head. Is the lime build up in the head and C. L. R. If none of the above was tested maybe you prematurely took the divertor apart Get back and let me know Please.

The place was built in 1987, took the shower head off and the flow is a little more than a trickle. No restrictor in the head(no duildup either), it literally dribbles water, I think it wasn't used for quite some time.

There is enough room to replace faucet from front, if you have a imp cutter and are good at unsoldering and soldering joints. Is there by any chance an access from behind the faucet. If not, is the backside accesible to where you could cut out the wall and get to the faucet. If you can solder, and you can open up a space behind faucet, then we may be able to help you install a new faucet. If not, I would call in a plumber.

I would say go new its already 22 years old and it tmay keep giving problems later
