Yes I live in pa and I wanted to know what I could do about a female in nc. We have been sending emails back and forth for a while, nothen that threaten anyone but swearing and talking trash but over a month ago I told her to grow up and leave me alone well she has been talking to people about lies about me she told people she called the cops to look at the emails that are over a month old that I sent her ( I only sent her 5 emails in a year) but just as well I have kept her emails and emails she sent to other people talking about me, she has told lies to social services so I can't go around her kids( she is my husbands baby momma) on my space she has tagged my photo as bit*c and that I need to grow up this is where everyone can see and she has left comments on a game profile of mine.. she just keeps telling lies about me and I have dealt with this for 6 yrs and I'm tired and I want to know what I can do to just have her leave me alone and keep my name out of her mouth I have people that keep telling what she is saying to them about me, I have blocked her but she found ways around that she even has her friends talking to me, so help what can I do?

On top of that she has made his family believe that I'm the one harassing her she tells people she has her own life then start trouble with me even has her friends starting, she has put a big gap in mine and my husbands relationship she is about to get what she wants us no longer together and I don't know what to I'm not going to be like her and tell everyone every thing she says to me I'm to growen and for a mother of 4 kids you would think she is to but she hates me because I'm with him her kids like me and she had child service called on her but when something happens in her life she tells everyone I did I can write a book on what this child has put me through for 6 yrs...

First, this is a legal forum. Please try to avoid text speak. It makes it very difficult to understand what you are actually speaking about.

Have you considered not replying to her? People get awfully bored picking on someone that doesn't validate their efforts. Basically... just ignore her.

If it gets serious (and right now it just sounds like overgrown children being children) you can go to the police and get a restraining order against her for harassment.

Try contacting MySpace and asking them to prevent her from accessing your space. Or stop allowing non-friends to post.

It seems to me that you are both being children. Stop letting it bother you because that's what she wants.

It sounds like you both have a history of "talking trash and swearing." That doesn't look good for either one of you if either one of you decides to take some sort of legal action.

In brief there is little you can do but ignore her and her friends and anybody else who is contacting you. You can't stop her from talking about her. You CAN stop responding to her - the game will get very old, very quick. You also CAN lock your myspace page, blocking comments from people you don't approve.

I have asked that your other thread be combined with this one because the info posted there is slightly different.

It would be extremely expensive if you hire an Attorney to sue her, particularly because she's out of State. I'm talking about thousands and thousands of dollars. If you are thinking about defamation, here's something I wrote:

Briefly - Generally in law libel refers to permanent/written statements and slander refers to non-permanent/spoken statements. Defamation (of character) covers both categories.

You must be damaged - and prove damages - in order to recover. The statements (either written or spoken) must be false but presented as though they were true and be beyond offensive, derogatory or insulting. Such statement must rise to a level which actually harms a person's reputation. In general the person making the statement must either know it isn't true or make the statement without attempting to verify if it is true.

The defense to defamation is that the information was not presented as the truth (which covers gossip), that the information was never secret (privileged) and was always public.

As to the answers here I have lots of emails and a letter from the child service with what she wrote about me I have blocked and stopped talking to her for over a month now and she is still blogging about me or writing nasty things about me, she will not stop till I leave my husband I went a year with out speaking to her and she made up so many lies and stories about me, is there something I can do for her telling a lie to child service about me, I never beat kids and she said I beat her kids its becoming crazy now and she is making me look bad she is going to be working for the police in aug 09 and I'm moving back to nc. If I don't do nothen now who will believe me when she is a cop?

If you think your reputation has been seriously damaged, people think less about you because of what this person is saying, then by all means retain an Attorney and have the Attorney sue her for, among other things, intentional infliction of emotional distress.

I've already posted about defamation, what it means, the legal description, so if it applies, by all means sue this person.

Otherwise I know of no way to effectively shut her up.

If you are concerned that she is going to be a Police Officer, has been accepted on the force, then you can always contact the Chief of Police or Mayor in your City, send them the emails (and whatever else) you have collected and complain about her. I think this will only make the situation worse if they don't believe you or don't care.

"Usually" once someone files a report with CPS, CPS loses all interest in future reports and sees the situation for what it is.

Otherwise there is nothing you can do legally.
