I have a Samsung lcd hd TV and a panasonic dvd recorder/vcr combo. The TV has 2 hdmi in connections and the panasonic dvd recorder has 1 hdmi out. I had them hooked up to cable with no box and recently decided to add hd cable. I received the cable box, a motorola dch3200 with no dvr,but can't figure out how to hook all 3 things together. I want to be able to record TV programs, but not necessarily while watching something else, mostly just to record while I am away. The instructions that came with the cable box say to hook the cable from the wall into the cable box, then the cable box to the dvd recorder, then from the dvd to the TV. Instructions that came with the dvd recorder said to run the wall cable first to the dvd recorder and then to the cable box. Which was is correct? A salesman at Best Buy told me to run them separately and use a splitter from the wall.

I'm very confused now!

We did it the way that the guy at Best Buy told you. Works great.
