How to replace agitator kenmore elite 23032

Most agitators lift to remove. I usually grab the by the bottom on both sides and apply upward pressure. Easy does it cause when it pops off it could hit you in the face since you are bent over with your arms in the machine.

I have a 2006 Kenmore Elite washer. The agitator is making a loud noise. It sounds like its loose. If I hold down the top the noise quits. What do I need to replace?

Is the noise a ratching noise like clicking noise?
