I must confess, i kind of intended for some one just like you to come here so i can see what you would think of the information i found on the net, and various other sources. Are you cool with me laying out the things i've found??? I'll lay them out any way, and let you decide what is what. Fair enough??
True a responsible person does know when enough is enough. (this is just my opinoin.) Thats good that you can walk out on your won two feet.
Ah, the point of drinking is to get drunk, this statment is very dangerous. For one, it implies that you have to drink lots to have a good time, if alcohol is involved. (lots to me is more than one drink an hour, and/or more than 4-5 drinks on one occation, but lets just say one day. ;)) The "feeling of freedom" I admit i once upon a time party hard, drinking, getting high and sorts. I've since learned that that feeling of "freedom"/"cutting loose" is not about freedom, it's about excape from reality. Because you are acctaully imprisoning yourself, unknowingly of course. When you are under the influence of any drug, alcohol is a drug too, you change the way your body acts, and reacts, feels, even the way you think. For example alcohol does the following:
(2-3 drinks) can results a loss of motor coordination for up to 12 to 18 hours after drinking. Can also result in depleted aerobic capacity and negative impact on endurance for up to 48 hours after the last drink has been consumed.
Alcohol goes directly to the bloodstream, which is why it effects every system in the body.
Alcohol is a nervous system depressant.
When a person's blood alcohol level ranges from .02 g/100ml to .08 g/100ml he/she usually has a change in mood and may have trouble interpreting what he/she sees and hears.
Chronic alcohol use can damage the frontal lobes of the brain.6
Chronic alcohol use can cause an overall reduction in brain size.
Poor judgment is a natural outcome when the brain is influenced by alcohol.
0.02-0.03 BAC: No loss of coordination, slight euphoria and loss of shyness. Depressant effects are not apparent. Mildly relaxed and maybe a little lightheaded.
0.04-0.06 BAC: Feeling of well-being, relaxation, lower inhibitions, sensation of warmth. Euphoria. Some minor impairment of reasoning and memory, lowering of caution. Your behavior may become exaggerated and emotions intensified (Good emotions are better, bad emotions are worse)
0.07-0.09 BAC: Slight impairment of balance, speech, vision, reaction time, and hearing. Euphoria. Judgment and self-control are reduced, and caution, reason and memory are impaired, .08 is legally impaired and it is illegal to drive at this level. You will probably believe that you are functioning better than you really are.
0.10-0.125 BAC: Significant impairment of motor coordination and loss of good judgment. Speech may be slurred; balance, vision, reaction time and hearing will be impaired. Euphoria.
0.13-0.15 BAC: Gross motor impairment and lack of physical control. Blurred vision and major loss of balance. Euphoria is reduced and dysphoria (anxiety, restlessness) is beginning to appear. Judgment and perception are severely impaired.
Freedom is the state or condition of being free. The condition of not being under another’s control; power to do, say, think as one pleases; Liberty. It also means lack of restraint. So you can i supose be free while drinking, but once you reach the point of 0.07-0.09 BAC (as stated above) you are no longer free you are loosing control, and starting to become quit the opposit of free. No??
As for differnt types of drunks, that is true and fauls depending how you look at it. If you say that people who are already feeling a specific feeling drink and become that specific drunk your words are true. But if you realize that it's not the person who's acting the way they are, its the alcohol affecting how they act. There for people need to learn not to drink, or how to drink responsibly, so as to avoid that behaviour.
I apreciate that you get the idea about the people who are drinkin are neanderthals. I said that because Neanderthals didn't have such higher cognitive funtions as we do now. Yet when people drink, they loose those abilities. So, lowered inhibition, confution, difficultiy understanding, and quick to anger, or be happy. I imagine that to be a neanderthal. (more for others who read this.)
Ah yes, the whole idea of how much one can handle. I'll bring up some info on the idea of tolerance. Tolerance is the lessening of the effectiveness of alcohol after a period of prolonged or heavy use. Tolerance means you may not feel the same effects of alcohol as you continue to use, but your blood alcohol concentration level may remain high. The idea behind this is that even though you seem to "handle" your alcohol you are acctaully damaging your system more. It requires more alcohol to get the same feeling as before, and that requires your body to motabolize more alcohol, which it can't. Because your liver can only handle so much at a time. So becarful about your "tolerance", becuase the higher your's is, dosen't realy mean it's a good thing.
As for drinking everyday, if it's one drink, it's actually better than drinking just on the weekends. Personally i'd choose to drink every other day, and only at super or during a meal. But if you go look up that show the Dr.s or the doctors what ever they're called, they have some info on this to clarify my point.
As for who cares, i agree, who really does care? People seem more interested in going out and drinkin and causeing trouble, weather by damaging things or missunderstanding one another and fighting and so on, than having fun with out being Neanderthals. (Yes i'm aware that its not every body, just a minority.)
I hope this dosen't offend you, I simply put what i have fond. Take it as you will and feel free to argue your point.
Peace be with you.
