Is research J1 visa a bad option for international medical graduates
    HI
I am an international medical graduate who has already cleared USMLE step 1 and 2
I have been refused a B1 visa due to weak familial tie sto my home country,
I have been offered a research scholar position at UNC on a J1 visa for one year,
Is it a good option to avail,
What restrictions will I be facing if I plan to switch from a research J1 to clinical J1 through ECFMG( education cmmision for foreign medical graduates)

This is a research scholarship, so the 2 years rule applies in this J-1, which means after completion of the term, you must return to your home country. You will not be able to obtain new visa or change status while in US for 2 years.

Yeah, you might be in a bit of a pickle when it comes to your visa problem, but its very encouraging that you have completed USMLE STEP 1 and USMLE STEP 2 CK, if you were to complete USMLE STEP 3 too then it might be possible to get the type of visa you are looking for... a good site for USMLE STEP 3 review is Score95.com: http://www.score95.com/
