Can I closed forced air vents?
I have a patio home with in floor heat. The home also has a back up forced air furnace with vents located along the ceiling. Recently I noticed a steady flow of cold air coming in through these vents.

Since I am not using the forced air system can I simply close the ceiling vents? Then when summer arrives I would just open them again so I could use the duct work for air conditioning. FYI - I have no air-to-air exchanger either.

    Thanks

If you not using forced air heat sure close the vents,, but I would investigate as to why cold air is coming out the vents when not in use,, are they all blowing cold air, could be the fan is running in your furnace, waisting electricity,, look at the thermostat that runs the forced air system

PS; try not to forget the vents are closed when a/c season comes around

Also make sure to change the air filter for the unit before the A/C season since you just bought the home.
