    In need of a hobby,
OK so I'm seventeen, I have nothing to do when I get off work and when I'm not at school. I would really like to do something, I am really tired of being at home, all I do is think. I get depressed so a hobby would really help me. Help?

    Hi, seventeen!

So, what are some things that you're good at and that interest you, please?

    Thanks!

To tell you the truth, I don't know what I'm interested in, I like taking pictures. But my camera is broken.I like exercising but sometimes I get off work really late. I am open to a lot of ideas though

Try paint by numbers. I did three triple 36 x 14" painting for the first time when I was about 6.

Have you ever done writing of any kind? If so, what kind?

Are you into music? Do you play a musical instrument? If you don't play an instrument, would you be interested in learning how to do that?

    Thanks!

If you've ever imagined yourself playing a musical instrument, this would be a nice time to start, as Clough suggests. People who play a musical instrument give a lot of joy to other people.

Exercise is also proven to be the best way to battle depression so if it's something you naturally enjoy, try to fit it into your schedule, even if it means getting a set of weights and putting together an exercise routine at home. Are there any team sports you enjoy?

All of these are great ideas. Exercise (ice skating, roller skating, skiing, hiking etc) are wonderful hobbies and help relieve stres, depression and anxiety.
I taught myself scrapbooking, candle & soap making-which are very easy, gardening & flower arranging, cake decorating, jewelry making, making my own greeting cards. How about photography? Start with a good camera but don't blow the bank in case you don't like it. Learn to knit, crochet or sew to save your money. I agree that music is a wonderful hobby & a way to express yourself. Staring off with any of these ideas does not need to be expensive... start of simple and decide if you desire to pursue your hobby further, than spend a little more money on whatever please you. If you love young children, there are most likely organizations that would love to have volunteer help. Check out those class fliers that many colleges send out for day/evening programs for more idea that I can't think of at the moment. I volunteer at a home/soup shelter and find it very satisfying and rewarding to help those in need. Consider an "adopt a grandparent" program where you will be matched with an elderly person who is lonely, don't have grandchildren or contact with them. www.elderswithoutwalls.com is great place to check out!
Hope this gives you some ideas! I had no idea if you were male or female but many of these ideas can be applied either way! And don't knock 'em until you try!
And by way, you are not "sucky". Negative thinking produces negativity so turn that around and I bet you'll start feeling a whole lot better about yourself!

I had a hard time trying to find a hobby to. I have found that I really love scrapbooking. I also have been exercising a lot, which I know is a hard thing to start up, but once you get going you feel a lot better.

Do some volunteer work for somebody or an organization that could use you. The best way to make yourself feel better is helping some one else feel good. Habitat for Humanity, Big Brothers, YMCA, all kinds of opportunities!
