    Thinking in my sleep
I've been on winter break for 2 weeks. Lately, when I sleep, in the middle of the night, I just abruptly waking up in the middle of the night because I am afraid I will be late for school. There is no school that day. Even when I sleep, I worry that it would be time for school and I'll be late. I just wake up and look at the clock before feeling relieve and go back to sleep. It happens 2 or 3 times a night and it disturbs my sleep very much. I don't know why I do it. It just happens, I have a alarm clock and I set it and everything. I just worry it doesn't ring on time and I'll be late for school. Although it never actually happened. I even do that on the weekends, wake up in the middle of the night, realize that it's Saturday, then can't go back to sleep again, or take a while to. It's been happening almost everyday! Please help!

That happens to me too, I never really worried about it much.

In fact, it always pleased me to wake up at 5AM on a Saturday morning thinking I had to go to work, only to remember it's Saturday, and I can go back to sleep.

On the flip side, it sucks when the alarm clock goes off on a bonafide Monday and your body still thinks its Saturday.

Could be just a phase. I find that Sunday nights are my worst for this. I think the body gets used to a routine.

Oh, I just realized from another one of your post, that you are 13.

In that case, I wouldn't worry about this. This is just the body doing it's thing. As you get older and stresses start to mount, you'd be amazed at what the body does in your sleep.

I've gotten better, but in my late teens, early 20's, I used to get up in the middle of the night and scream and yell, kick the wall, fuss and cuss, didn't remember any of it. All this reported from my family.

In fact, about 3 months ago, I watched a horror movie about snakes, and about 30 minutes into my sleep, dreamed a big snake was chasing me, got up, ran across the room, opened the closet door, charged inside, tore down the clothes rack. When my wife woke me up, I was in a cold sweat, laying in a pile of clothes in the closet, trying to figure out what the hell just happened...

Oh yea, sleep will do that...

Are you feeling some stress with school or your school work at all? I often do something similar, waking up in the middle of the night or very early, the last several days of a school break and on the weekends. However, I'm a teacher and my mind is more on what needs to be done and getting prepared.

It may be that you are so focused on school right now that it occupies your miind much of the time, even in your sleep.

Might help, as you are preparing for bed, to remind yourself that you don't have school the next morning, think about something fun you will be doing. As you fall asleep, focus on other activities or on relaxing. Try to keep a fairly consistent bedtime routine as well.

When you are back at school, do your best to be organized and keep up on your school work (if that is an issue for you)... might help ease your mind over school a bit.

Thank you guys! Great advices! I use to scream in my sleep too, I even ran down stairs to my parents room and cry, I don't remember the next morning though. s

I usually spend hours study and doing homework, that's probably the culprit!
