Nothing coming from one heat register
I have a two story house with forced air electric heat. The furnace is about 20 years old, but has been maintained and works fine. Nothing (no heat, no cold air, nothing) is coming from one of the registers downstairs in the laundry room. All the rest are fine. What could cause this and can I fix it myself? Thanks for your help.

Is this a new situation, or continuing?

Check the duct that is connected to the register with no output to be sure it is connected. Naturally I am sure you already checked the register to make sure it is open and you might also check to see if a damper has been installed somewhere on the supply duct leading to the register with no output.

It's a new situation. Yes, the register is open. I'll check it out. Thanks for your help.

    Hi, dianele!

Just in case you might not know what the dampers are, they're separate from the register at the end of the duct and are usually located some distance from the register and are inside the ducts themselves. You can find them by looking for what look like knobs or handles along the duct.

    Thanks!
