I have a very small master bath. We want to eventually knock through the closet and enlarge the bathroom. The best option for us would be to put the shower stall along the wall where there is currently a sink and put the toilet where the shower stall is. Basically we'd be flipping the locations of the shower and toilet, because the shower currently sits on the wall we want to knock out.

Is this possible to do? Is it extremely involved, or is it just rerouting the waste lines? We're planning on have pros do the plumbing work for us, but we'd like to know if this is even possible so we can begin to lay out our ideas for the room.

Anything in remodeling is possible. The question is How much money do you have to spend on this project? Because it will cost a bundle. Even if you are down to the stud walls, you can figure on anywhere up to 100 dollars an hour labor for a plumber. Add materials and it could easily top 3000 dollars just for the plumbing work.

Donn pretty well said it. Yes! We can do it! Yes it will involve tearing into floors, walls and relocating both drainage and water. The question is can you afford it? And the only way to tell is get three estimates. Let me know how you make out. Good luck, Tom

Thanks for your replies. Walls and floors will have to be ripped up and out whatever we do. Knowing that it's possible to move the plumbing gives us some other options to consider as we start to lay this project out.

If you have raised foundation than it will be easier to do. If you are on slab than it is a mess. But as previous responders said, all is possible. We do it on every day bases. It is helpful that there is a bathroom now. In the best scenario, it may involve only simple relocation of drains and water pipes.
