I myself and 2 other roomates moved in to a town home about 4 months ago. What happened was my roommate and best friend past away 2 days from moving in. So I decided to move home to austin and continue to pay rent on the town home. My landlord said that she would continue to look for tennants as long as I continued to pay rent. So I did. Any ways she ended up finding a couple of guys to move in but all they needed was a 3 month lease. So she leased it to them without notifying me until after the fact and told me that I would have to continue to pay the rent after the 3 month period. My question is my contract void if my landlord leased my townhome to someone else while I still had a year contract with her?? I signed no subleasing conract.

I don't see why you would be responsible after the 3 months.
It was up to her to tell them the remainder of the lease. If she chose to rent for less than the remainder I would think that should be on her.
