Cannot remember title of film about "parallel" world
I'm very vague on details, but... somewhere around 15 years ago I watched a movie on TV, if fact - it might have been a 2 or 3 parter, made for TV?? - - where a couple guys [and maybe a girl] used a gizmo to transport themselves into a "duplicate" world. It was physically just like our Earth, but the rules of civilization had evolved differently. For instance..
1 - All the cars were white, and they were common property for anyone to use.
2 - In one scene a cop stops a guy for walking a dog without a leash. Instead of giving him a ticket, the cop offers him a leash to use!
3 - IMPORTANT - Every so offen a PA announces the name of a person, then all the townspeople leave their homes and hunt down the person and bash 'em to death! As it turns out, in THIS civilization the citizens themselves seek-out criminals and take action.
4 - It is a crime to be fat. One of the transported people is overweight, and sure enough - eventually his name is announced over the PA. He escapes the mobs by fleeing into the mountains, to a "commune" where all the "rejects" hide.
No - I didn't dream this all up! Now, SOMEONE tell me what I watched.. . please.
