Problem: bathroom remodel puts toilet toooo close to vanity. (another vanity is not an option, as I spent 3 months turning this antique cabinet into a beautiful vanity!)

The room is there to move the toilet over an inch, but how?
Do I have to move the lines or is there a magic flange that will allow me to do this simply?

The water supply is from the wall, so that will not be a problem. The other pipe work is standard pvc with the tub and sink attached.

Opps, we are on a crawl space, so access from underneath is not a problem

Since you have crawl space than you should be able to move it w/o problem. Yes, they sell off-set closet ring. Toilet pipe will have to be cut from under neath and reconnected as needed.

Hi Bridget, Usually there is enough play in the pvc system to move the piping. If yo pull the toilet you can unscrew the pvc flange that is attached to the floor. If you can cut the floor about an inch in the direction you need to move the flange do that and pull the flange over and screw it in place. If the 3 inch line draining the toilet is long enough it will move fairly easy. Richj

Thanks! I purchased an offset flange and extra pipework just in case there isn't any wiggle room with the pipes underneath. I will be attempting this feat tomorrow! It sounds pretty simple and straight forward.

Simple, maybe, did you buy the right PVC glue yet?

Yes, got the correct glue, correct size and type of pipe. I really do appreciate all of your help!

Technically... you should also have purchased PRIMER with that PVC cement... ;) Read the cement can instructions... decide for yourself!

You can probably get by without primer on 1 or 2 PVC fittings, but they will be glued... not WELDED.

Thanks all! Got the glue, even the primer!

Had to use the offset flange, as there was no play in the pipes. The job was fairly simple, and the only problem was getting 1 old screw out of the old flang. And going into the crawl space, just because I hate going under the house! I did have to replace 1 floor tile, but all is good now.
