Can you be more specific? Is it a heat pump? Is it icing up at the condenser? The evaporator?

No heat pump, lines on compressor iceing, coils in unit in atic iceing

    Check for dirty air filter.

    Or a failed blower motor.

Air filter clean, cleaned coils with water hose

Deice unit by turning fan on manual after 20 min ice is gone

That might have thawed your coil but that doesn't solve the original problem.

Could low freeon cause the problem

Possible that low refrigerant could cause the problem. Call for professional On Site service to address your concerns to the low refrigerant situation.

Absolutely could. As the pressure drops so does the coil temperature. When the suction pressure drops low enough the coil will freeze.

I would gladly trade in this cold weather for an air conditioning problem of my own...

Most probable cause is the freon when icing occurs if it isn't the filter

Since the evaporater coil is freezing I`m assuming you are running it in a/c mode, if it was in heat mode and the reversing valve is working it would be sending hot freon to the evaporater coil and there would be no reason for it to ice up. Am I correct? If so like the guys said its either low on freon,or there's a circulation problem,, dirty coil, dirty filter, very slow or non-working blower fan,, its Jan. 3rd here in WV and I wish I was needing my a/c to be running,:),:),:):p

Woops,, I see his text now,, that's its not a heatpump,(my bad)

Not necessarily, could be a dirty/plugged evaporator coil, a clogged drain or ven a failing blower.
